Walter James III is a national Christian leader and seasoned public servant with more than 25 years of experience in justice reform, education, and community advocacy. He holds a PhD in Law and Policy, a Juris Doctor, and an EdS in Educational Leadership.
As the Founder and Executive Officer of Civil Rights and Criminal Justice Reform Advocates, Walter is dedicated to confronting racial inequities and reducing the over-reliance on incarceration in the United States. He promotes effective alternatives to prison, including drug courts, mental health courts, community-based treatment programs, and faith-centered rehabilitation. These programs focus on healing, accountability, and successful reintegration.
Guided by Christian principles of restoration and mercy, Walter works to build a justice system that addresses the root causes of criminal behavior, including addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges. His mission is to help individuals return to their families and communities restored, empowered, and prepared for long-term success.
