Reverend Dr J. Curtis Harvey, Jr.

Reverend Dr. J. Curtis Harvey, Jr. is the Senior Pastor of the Rhema Rock Church Dothan where lives are changed!

A native of Dothan, Alabama and U.S. Army Veteran, Harvey received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Florida Baptist Theological College (Graceville, Florida), and a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry degree at Luther Rice Seminary (Lithonia, GA). He has done graduate studies at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (New Orleans, Louisiana).

J. Curtis Harvey, Jr. commenced his preaching at the tender age of 26 and pastoral ministry at 28. God has favored him by with a life changing anointing to accompany his ministry. Dynamic in his delivery, Pastor Harvey is an exquisite expositor of practical and profound biblical application. He is blessed to have a today’s word of encouragement and hope.

His wisdom is humble and we are thankful that God has allowed him to share and be a willing vessel. Wednesday night Bible studies are sure to challenge; well as inspire your intellect and penetrate your very soul.

Sunday mornings are always electrifying and edifying to the saints simply because he attributes all Glory to God! Pastor Harvey is a pastor after God’s on heart that studies to show himself approved before God, rightly dividing the word of truth!

He is married to the lovely Kimberly D. Harvey of 28 years, who is a God sent woman of virtue. She also is a native of Dothan and a Troy State University graduate (Troy). She is by far a woman who walks beside her husband as they serve Christ as one. They are blessed with three sons: James C. Harvey, III (C.J) , Ja’kel A. Harvey and Jireh A. Harvey.

Harvey's parents are Pastor James C. Harvey Sr. and Barbara Harvey. He has three siblings, Pierre Harvey, Rodney D. Harvey, and Dionne M. Harvey.

Accomplishments:

On January 11, 2005, James Curtis Harvey Jr. was elected to the Houston County Commission as representative of District 1 in a special election held. He is the second to ever serve this position and the youngest at the age of 35. Harvey would finish out this term for 2006 and go on to be elected again for an additional four year term. Commissioner Harvey is also Senior Pastor of Rhema Rock Church located in Dothan, AL.

Since the time Harvey was elected and has been serving, he has been most aggressive in trying to implement a plan of action for his constituents. Harvey is a Graduate Certified County Commissioner completing 90 mandated hours through the Alabama Local Government Institute Training sponsored by Auburn University. Harvey has been instrumental in trying to provide a county wide water system and the future I-10 connector that will create more jobs and bring industry to our county.

Harvey has served as the ACCA Minority Director serving all 67 counties within the State of Alabama. Harvey has served on the Executive Committee for the Alabama Democratic Conference pushing and excelling them to even greater heights. Harvey says, we can not afford to be idle, it takes teamwork to make a dream work! Harvey actively attends and stays abreast of most legislation and other issues that might affect both our citizens in Houston County and across the State of Alabama.
