Anneshia Hardy
Hi, I'm Anneshia Hardy, a cultural narrative strategist, facilitator, and social impact entrepreneur with a commitment to using the power of narrative and messaging to build equitable power structures.. My work focuses on the confluence of culture, media, and public opinion, utilizing these as potent tools to address pressing social issues.
As the Executive Director for both Alabama Values (501c3) and Alabama Values Progress (501c4), I have the opportunity to spearhead the delivery of key messaging, research, and digital strategies aimed at fortifying the pro-democracy movement in Alabama and across the South. Beyond these roles, I am also the co-founder of Blackyard LLC, an innovative organization devoted to informing, inspiring, and empowering change-makers and organizations to maximize their impact in marginalized communities.
With more than a decade of professional experience, my expertise encompasses strategic marketing communications, branding, and audience research and engagement across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors. I've conducted transformative narrative and messaging workshops for numerous pro-democracy organizations across the South, including the Obama Foundation and NAACP. I've also played an influential role in developing the strategic communications and messaging strategies for voting rights cases across the South, including the recent U.S. Supreme Court case, Allen v. Milligan, which upheld Section 2 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the Louisiana v Callais SCOTUS case.
My academic background in marketing research, strategic communications, and public policy provides a balanced blend of practical knowledge and theoretical grounding. Having provided classroom instruction in areas ranging from mass media to media ethics and strategic communications, my approach to movement work bridges academia and real-world application.
Passionate about developing culturally relevant content, I aim to stimulate conversation and close knowledge gaps around social issues. Grounded in the belief that narrative, content, and messaging strategies are pivotal in creating equitable power structures, enhancing civic engagement, and sparking mobilization, you will find me at the forefront of creating narrative and messaging strategies that inspire action and effect lasting change.
